Pat Armstrong is Professor in the Department of Sociology at York University. An extremely prolific academic, Armstrong is the author, co-author, or editor of over 25 books and dozens of book chapters and journal articles. With CSPI, Armstrong has published six books: Troubling Care: Critical Perspectives on Research and Practices (2013); Thinking Women and Health Care Reform in Canada (co-edited with Barbara Chow, Karen Grant, Margaret Haworth-Brockman, Beth Jackson, and Ann Pederson, 2012); Womens Health: Intersections of Policy, Research, and Practice (co-edited with Jennifer Deadman, 2008); Studies in Political Economy (co-edited with Caroline Andrew and Hugh Armstrong, 2003); Feminism, Political Economy, and the State (1992); and Feminism in Action (co-edited with Patricia Connelly, 1992). In 2011, she was elected to the Royal Society of Canada and honoured as a Distinguished Research Professor for outstanding contributions to the University through research in 2010. Armstrong has authored several research reports for unions, public commissions, and non-profit organizations, served as Chair for the Canadian Institute of Health Research, and appeared as an expert witness on more than a dozen cases related to womens health care work and pay equity.
