The Wii as its name implies, is about playing together, and
obviously to do this you will require another “Wii-mote”. This package
offers excellent value, obviously being priced at only $10 more than the
Wii-mote on its own.
While Wii Sports is a great pack-in title to demonstrates the
Wii-mote's motion sensing abilities, Wii Play offers an excellent introduction
to the finer details of the Wii-mote capabilities. Each of the 9 mini-games
introduces another aspect of the Wii-mote that, at first glance, you might not
easily realise it was capable of.
It offers first time players a fun and casual tutorial in the ways of the
Wii-mote, but there is little here that you are likely to want to come back to.
Of the 9 mini-games, personal tastes will ensure that you will probably quite
like two or three of them, hate another couple, and be ok with the rest.
The bottom line is that this serves its intended purpose of introducing new
players to the Wii and Wii-mote capabilities in a fun way that will keep you
entertained for a short time. At only $10 more than the standard Wii-mote, it
helps soften the blow when it comes to the steep accessory pricing in this part
of the world. However it is unlikely that you will still be playing Wii Play a
few months down the track, especially with the quality Wii titles we are being
promised in the near future.
