Author Biography

Damian Harvey lives near Blackpool in Lancashire with his wife, three daughters, four cats and a horde of guinea pigs. \nBefore he became a writer he worked as a painter and decorator, a lifeguard, a swimming teacher, and as an assistant in a record shop. This all got very boring for Damian so he went to Sunderland University, got married and had a baby girl. \nAfter leaving Sunderland University with a BA'Hons' degree in Communication Studies, but no job, he took a mind numbingly boring job in an office and had two more baby girls. While this helped pay the bills 'the job -- not the babies' it did nothing for Damian's sanity. It was during one of the many maddening hours of mind numbing boredom that Damian thought it would be a good idea to write books for young children. His wife and children thought this would be a great idea as they had borrowed most of the books from the local library and needed something else to read at bedtime -- everyone else thought he was mad. \nFortunately, young children have discovered they actually like Damian's books so he keeps on writing them. He's now written around 40 books and doesn't know how to stop. \nAlthough Damian enjoys sitting at home writing stories and poems, he also gets let out from behind his computer from time to time and loves visiting schools, libraries, festivals - and anywhere else that will have him -- to give lively, interactive performances of his stories, talk about writing and help children with writing stories of their own. \nYou can find out more about Damian by visiting his website www.damianharvey.co.uk or you can email him at author@damianharvey.co.uk
