A LOST village, an early, early warning system and the origins of Barnoldswick's unique name are all revealed in a new book covering the ancient history of West Craven.The area's Anglo-Saxon origins have been brought to life in the Valley of the Drawn Sword, by Barrowford author John Clayton.The book covers the foundation of East Lancashire, from pre-history to the Norman invasion of 1066, and includes details of little-known local landmarks, such as the remains of a Norman castle in Gisburn.
