Description

Enron, Worldcom, Arthur Anderson...the list of corporations that burned out due to crooked book-keeping keeps growing. Too bad more journalists didn't have the knowledge of Jay Taparia at their disposal. Taparia, who regularly presents seminars on financial analysis to members of the Society of American Business Editors and Writers, is a veteran financial analyst with the rare talent of also being an outstanding communicator. In this book, Taparia walks journalists through the essentials of understanding a company or organisation's financial health. He carefully explains how to evaluate financial statements, and then takes the reader behind the numbers to explain how companies formulate their financial documents and what journalists should be on the lookout for. The book is full of real-life examples of financial chicanery Taparia has encountered in his work. Understanding Financial Statements will soon be the standard among journalists and others who need to be able to critically examine the financial health of companies and organisations.
