Born in 1950, I came up during a time of racial strife. Being the only black student in a white school showed me how bigotry can be and also, how caring others can be. There was nothing easy about my life, but like "mama" would say "Whatever won't kill you will make you stronger". Now at the age of 64, I have a specific look at the past. A past look that few have. The book goes from when I was 3 years old to the present. My story is of many disappointments and victories. Coming from an all white area to an all black area was a culture shock that was welcomed. Seeing the black experience from both sides gave me an unique perspective. It was like watching "One Life to Live" to "Good Times"!
