Its image has been connected with the idea of God, in the minds of myriads who have been born, and lived, and died, within sight of its spire. Hallowed associations gather thickly around it. Its walls are hung with the memorials of ancient days. Shadowy processions of the sainted dead seem to move along its aisles and a solemn chant, as of many voices, known and unknown, mingling in psalms and prayers, to swell beneath its roof.
