Trash! tells the story of Velu, who runs away from his village to Chennai. There he meets Jaya, a sharp ragpicker child, and begins to work with her. Life on the streets is difficult and frightening. Jam Bazzar Jaggu, the crafty ruler of rubbish and Dorai, the sinister money lender add to Velu's problems...The story is accompanied by information on complex issues ranging from child labour and child rights, to lifestyles, waste and recycling, making it the ideal resource for teachers working to bring to attention the lives of working children and the issue of child labour.

Author Biography

One of our most prolific children's book writers, Anushka Ravishankar has slowly but surely been securing her status as one of the best children's writers of her generation.
