Description

The artists in this title are: Heike Baranowksy, Thomas Bayrle, Christine de la Garenne & Via Lewandowsky, Echo Yinsin Ho, Mara Kurotschka, Ma Yingli, Ingo Niermann, Ou Ning & Cao Fei, Susanne Rockel, Xi Chuan. The text has been given by Chang Yung Ho, Gao Minglu, Hou Hanru, Eduard Kogel, Barbara Munch, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Qiu Zhijie, Shi Jian, Wang Jun, and Wu Hung. Owing to high speed urbanization, nowhere on earth are cities undergoing such a rapid change as in China. This book is the result of a scholarship project undertaken in 2005, as twelve artists from Germany and China, including visual artists, writers, a choreographer and a documentary filmmaker explored Beijing to reveal some of the issues accompanying sudden growth. The result is a handbook in which scientific and artistic analyses complement each other.
