"Good concept, Samey execution"
3 stars"

While not a bad game i found Timeshift to be rather clunky and more then a little tedious in places. The level design is good, the guns are run-of-the-mill and the NPCs are well designed.

My major problem with the game is the lack of use i got out of the Time powers. Your essentially spoon-fed the resolutions to all of the puzzles in the game that involve them. Bar the time puzzles presented the powers tend to be less helpfull on the fly as they tend to run out to quick to make any huge difference. Pretty much only one; bullet time, came in handy on a regular basis. I was looking forward to some really interesting gameplay with the mechanics involved but all i got was F.E.A.R with a rewind button.

What the developers should have done is come up with a bunch of interesting puzzles which involve at least a little thought on the part of the player. To that end i found little replay value in Timeshift which is a shame for a promising title.

While not a bad game, its certainly a lot more shallow then it should have been.

"Good, but not great"

This game introduces a few time related tampering abilities, in order to make the game easier to play, and to be more interesting to those with short attention spans who are pulled in by flashy gimmicks.

The time tampering is pointless and is not developed through the story. After stopping time, and unloading a couple of shotgun blasts to the face, then resuming time, the amusement wears off pretty quick. You get a button that automatically uses the time-power that is best suited for the situation, which takes away any need for thinking about what you are doing, and feels more like a “cheat” button.

This game possesses an inverse difficulty curve, as you always have the “time-cheat” button on standby, and the final battle was not exactly what would be expected from any FPS fan. Nothing says pointless like a final battle with the most powerful gun, infinitely replenishing ammo, and a slow moving ‘boss’ that isn't even shooting back at you.

If you want a good time manipulation game with a good story, try “Braid” (very short puzzle game).

If you want a good FPS game with time manipulation , try “F.E.A.R”, or “Second Sight”.

This game tried to integrate time manipulation into a first person shooter, although the story fell short, the weapon variety wasn't very interesting, and the time manipulation showed nothing that really made you think “wow”. This game had so much potential, however it didn't even come close to fulfilling it.

"Quite Underrated"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

This is, as the above guys have said – a really underrated title.

I was originally put off buying it by reviews on the net, although I liked the demo.

I've now been playing for 2 days solid and still have no idea where it ends – it's a good long gameplay. There are some bad points: The character sounds like an old walrus as he's moving along – note, I don't say he's running..er..I can run faster than him and that ain't saying much! (he could well be an ex-smoker for all the huffing and puffing). The melee facility is so funny I nearly wet myself laughing – they are a real bunch of pansies – almost handbags at dawn – and that goes for the bad guys as well – tis really worth the laugh.

The weapons don't change much, that being said, there are some quite good ones – the flamethrowing/machine gun thing being one of them.

The good points:

This is a fun game; it takes a while to get used to timeshifting and at times it seems to work in reverse to what it's supposed to – I don't think that's a game glitch, the suit you are given seems to have some variety of flashback. It's not persistent and fortunately when you really need to work out a difficult puzzle, you are not under fire.

There are some good firefights and the first trip in a Zeppelin is pretty amazing; one could say stunning. Your opposition are not all the same, there are some fun surprises.

Sierra have worked hard at this game, it has elements similar in construction to the game Lighthouse – lots of good detail; the vehicles are easy to use, so are the weapons, you don't have to pick up health packs which is a real blessing for a change and even though you can't hear at times what is being said to you (that seems to improve as the game goes on for some reason); it is overall, a title to enjoy for the upcoming winter days.

I don't want to give too much away, just get used to quick saving – I don't know what the ending is like, but this has been fun so far.

Oh, and one last point, the quick save is good in that it does not overwrite itself, you can go back one room or 10 paces if you need to.

Really quite inventive and entertaining.

"110% PREFECT"
5 stars"

This would have to be the best sci-fi/action game ever! This game has the perfect amount of action, sci-fi, strategy and difficulty. Now you might be thinking that this is a game full of aliens and more space-aliens but it isn't. You are fighting humans but just more into the future. So stronger and mightier guns. This game difficulty wise, i don't care how greater gamer you are you will definitely die at some point in time. This game has a left and right… Which one will you take? One path will be the wrong way and one will be the right way. This is a resemblance to the game. I think enough has been said that this is a HIGHLY!! RECOMMENDED!! BUY!! 6/5

"An Incredible Underrated Title"
5 stars"

This game wasn't really looked at much, as it was released in the time of year where heaps of shooters are released. It just so happened Timeshift was released just after Halo 3, and it got released along with Call of Duty 4. So, most people got COD4. However, this is one of the greatest shooters ever. The single player mode is good, very fun to stop time, grab your enemies weapon, and when time is restored back to normal, the enemy looks clueless…then you shoot the stuffing out of him! Its fun being able to manipulate time, and very unique to other shooters.

The multiplayer is epic, very fun indeed. In summary, this game is underrated, only because it was released in the season of shooters, and the hype was with the more anticipated games, so the reviews weren't great. This game lasts a while, and it is one to keep, IT IS NOT SHORT.

You'll have fun manipulating time to your advantage. Great work Sierra!
