Their author, the late Mr. B. W. Newton, began to revise them with a View to republication, but only finished the first. His alterations have been incorporated here, and it will be seen upon comparison that not a single statement of fact or of Opinion was altered; only here and there a felicitous turn of the sentence or a more concise expression was given. In the remaining four papers only the obvious press errors have been corrected. The whole are now sent forth with the h0pe that the Lord may be pleased to bless.
