Description

"Only the wounded physician heals" - C.G. Jung. Counter-transference is a central topic in psychotherapy. However, there have been few extended studies of the process from a Jungian perspective. "The Wounded Healer" breaks new ground in using detailed case histories of transference and counter-transference to reveal the complexity of the analytic process. Tracing various Jungian viewpoints on the subject, David Sedgwick develops new, dynamic ideas about the nature of the therapist's work. "The Wounded Healer" should be particularly important for all clinicians and students interested in the struggles of the therapeutic process. The author has also written "Jung and Searles" (Routledge 1993).

Author Biography:

David Sedgwick is a Jungian analyst in Charlottesville, Virginia, and is also a clinical psychologist and assistant professor at the University of Virginia. He is the author of Jung and Searles: A comparative study.
