Description

From whistle-blower and ATF agent John Dodson, this is a hard-hitting account of the Fast and Furious scandal and "a tale of the personal and professional journey of a man who decided to tell the truth, no matter the costs" (Senator Chuck Grassley and Representative Darrell Issa). Two hundred Americans were killed as a result of Fast and Furious--the government-sponsored program intended to "win the drug war" by selling more than two thousand guns across the border to Mexico in the hopes of catching criminals. Instead, it turned into a bloody gang war, placing American weapons into the hands of Mexico's most violent drug lords and kingpins, resulting in hundreds of deaths on both sides of the border. When American ATF agent Brian Terry was murdered with one of these guns, the scandal broke and led to public outcry--prompting a government cover-up. ATF veteran John Dodson shares the shocking secrets of Fast and Furious in this firsthand account, detailing as he watched guns land in the hands of dangerous drug cartels. Despite ruthless tactics to get him to back down, John Dodson testified before congress as to the failures of the program. His experience as an everyday citizen and law enforcement officer standing up to do the right thing when he believed the government was geared to do wrong is patriotism in its purest form. Here, in this tell-all book, Dodson shares with all Americans the truth, and why he risked it all--life, love, family and career--to tell the world about what went wrong.

Author Biography:

John Dodson was born in Virginia. His mother was a custodian at an elementary school and his father was a farmhand. He went straight into the army after his high school graduation, where he worked in intelligence for three years. He was given an honorable discharge and became a deputy. After a long, successful law enforcement career, making detective, and working in the vice-narcotics unit, ATF recruited him in 2005. In late 2009, he was transferred to Phoenix to help start a new group there that would specifically target firearms trafficking, where he became aware of the Fast and Furious program. After blowing the whistle in early 2011, he was transferred to Tucson, Arizona, where he currently resides.
