The earliest figures to which Ihave access refer to the year 1801, when the population numbered 1 143, made up of557 males and 586 females. In 1811, there were 582 males and 639 females, total 1221; in 1821, 636 males and 675 females, total 1311 and in 1831 the total was 1372.
