Excerpt from The Playground Movement in America and Its Relation to Public Education The rapid growth of towns and the immigration of large numbers of people who have not been accustomed to organise games may have made the problem more pressing in America than in this country. It has produced that intense use of the available opportunities which characterises the work of many of the large towns, and in particular has led to the special training of' play leaders.' The attention which is now being given to similar questions in this country leads the Board to hope that the publication of this paper may be of service to those who are considering the extension of the facilities for play both for children and for adults.
