Description

We have an insatiable knack for being attracted by the superficial rather than the real. We allow meaningful things to be supplanted with familiar, comfortable things. Things that once had meaning, we still do, but the meaning has faded. The thing itself becomes the focus. Traditions are not bad, but they can be dangerous to our growing in Christ. Christmas, like so many things we practice, has become a victim of much tradition. The story of the visit of the magi is the subject of this book. That visit is full of intrigue, diabolical plots, divine rescue, mysterious people, and personality studies. In it, we see the overarching providence of God.The best known stories of the Christmas Nativity are often mired in tradition which is often not biblically based. This book distinguishes biblical truth from tradition. The objective of this book is to restore the mystique of Christmas based on an enhanced view of God's providence in the story of the magi.

Author Biography:

Mike Brown is a layman. He worked as a professional engineer in the oil and gas production industry for 44 years, serving as project engineer, product specialist, and in research and development. He has taught Sunday School for over 45 years and has served as elder and deacon in his church. His analytial approach to this beloved Christmas passage helps to separate biblical truth from the mire of traditional assumption. The result is hopefully an increased appreciation of God's providential working in this story.
