Eastern shippers made liberal purchases at Chicago of fleshy 800 to 900 lb. Cattle costing around $8 to $850 which formerly went to feeders. Retail dealers turned to these cheaper grades of cattle, which could be put on the block at comparatively reasonable prices and yet yield good profits to the retailer.
