During his life, the late Prince Tui Teka was a massively important figure in
the music of New Zealand, and his legacy still lives on today. His travelling
shows through the country became legendary. Hundreds would come to see him –
they would laugh, dance & delight in his rich voice.
This collection of Maori songs showcases his talent perfectly. These
favourites were a mainstay in his live performances and are very well known,
particularly “Pokarekare Ana” & “Hoki Mai”.
Tui's ‘Maori Album’ remains a must have in any kiwi music collection and
is also a great souvenir for tourists, given the New Zealand cultural importance
of these recordings.
Music video below is not the version of ‘Hoki Mai’ featured on
this album.
