The idea of such a Memorial was first suggested by the diary found after Horace's death, and by the large number of testimonials from friends and acquaintances bearing witness to his Christlike influence and character. His own life had been deeply stirred by the lives of Hugh Beaver, Rose and Pitkin young men who lived for Christ and died joy fully in His service. His ideals and aspirations here on earth were the same as theirs.
