The children of the Saints may be said to have embraced the gospel because their par ents told them it was true. Thus far their faith rests upon the testimony of others. But the Lord has warned us that this is not suffi cient as a basis for perfect spiritual develop ment. The rock upon which He said He would build His church so firm that the gates of hell should not prevail against it, is the rock of revelation, a personal witness to every individual that He is both Lord and Christ, and who are His authorized ambassadors.
