Excerpt from The Judicature Acts and Rules of the Supreme Court, 1883: With Notes and Index The writing of this book was undertaken by the late Frederic Philip Tomlinson, in the modest hope that it might do him credit at a time when his legal attainments, already well known to his friends, were just beginning to receive the wider recog nition that they had long deserved. Hardly anything beyond the task of revision remained to be done when his unremitting labours were closed by his death. The executors felt it to be better that the work should be published, and the kindness and great ability of Mr. J. Langley, of 3, Tanfield Court (assisted by Mr. T. Tomlinson and Mr. N eish, of 1, Temple Gardens), has enabled the volume to appear in its present form. I have endeavoured to aid them to the best of my power, and all I ask of the profession is that they will debit any shortcomings in the work to me, and credit its merits to the memory of my brother-in-law.
