Description

Set in the whirling social scene of London in the late 1920's, The Jewel Box follows the adventures of flapper, Diamond Sharp. Her exploits are recorded in her weekly newspaper column that lets her readers know which club is the coolest, where the jazz is hottest, who can dance the best Charleston and who has thrown the most outrageous parties.
In her day job, Diamond Sharp, is in fact Grace Rutherford, a copy writer at an ad- agency. A woman like so many of her generation trying to deal with the tragic consequences of the Great War.
Both of her world's collide when she meets Dexter O 'Connell, a man sho she refers to as being'truly, head tunringly, staggeringly and yes, mouth-wateringly handsome'. Both Dexter and her new neighbour John Cramer confuse and delight her and by the end of the book Grace must choose between duty and desire, family and her future and love and passion with an outcome that surprises many.
