Author Biography

Joe Cummings was born in New Orleans and raised in California, France and Washington, D.C. An interest in Buddhism drew him to Thailand, where he taught English before returning to the US to earn a master's degree in South Asian Civilization at the University of California, Berkeley. He has contributed to guidebooks on Thailand, as well as China, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico and Myanmar, and written reference books on numerous subjects ranging from tattoos to temples, and dining to Muay Thai. He is currently editor-at-large at Bangkok 101 magazine.
