Description

Take a look at the biggest mishaps and miscalculations ever made. The Greatest Blunders...Ever! features a wealth of humongous historical bloopers and the people who made them. From the murder of Julius Caesar to Napoleon's sale of Louisiana and Hitler's invasion of Russia, this beautifully illustrated book shines a light on the people and personalities behind some of history's biggest blunders. If the road to damnation is paved with the best of intentions, then the road to disaster is paved with what, at first sight, appeared to be a smart move. History is a catalogue of blunders, and The Greatest Blunders...Ever! shines a light on fifty of the biggest. Discover history's greatest and most spectacular fails, including: How Emperor Caligula bankrupted Rome and tried to have his horse elevated to the position of consul; how Philip II of Spain destroyed half his own fleet and accidentally caused the deaths of two thirds of his navy; who caused a small student protest in France to escalate into violent mass demonstrations and a national strike; and why a nuclear power plant was built on the Japanese coast in an earthquake zone where it was known a major tsunami was possible.
