The form of government under which we live; the laws by which we are governed; the modes of social life by which we are environed the industrial, and the fine arts; even physical facts not dependent upon human will, as cli mate, soil, and local position, are determining factors in the forma tion of character and in the development Of conduct. We may con gratulate ourselves, therefore, that in environment we are supremely fortunate, and in many subjects of study hold a superior position.
