Description

Excerpt from The Eight Hours Day E the following work is an attempt to put together in accessible 'zform as much information as possible concerning the Eight ehours Movement. The authors recognise that a complete 5chistory is beyond their powers, but they venture to think that, at the present time, a convenient account of that movement, in its historical, economic, and social aspects, will be of service to politicians and the public. The bibliography at Zthe end of the volume may facilitate the research of other 1 students of what bids fair to be the most important industrial movement of the close of the century. Additions to, or 5 corrections of, that bibliography will be thankfully received. A small portion of the work appeared in two articles in the Nt'neleerztlz Century and the Conlemporary Review respec tively, and is reproduced by permission of the proprietors of 1 - 75: those magazines.
