For men to rack their imaginations in fancying cases in which resistance to Go verament maybecome their duty. Everyman who knows when he should obey, and does obey authority from right mo tives, ' will know when, and how to resist oppression. It will be time enough for us, my hearers, to give odr mind to this ih quiry, when the Government under which we live has ceased to be a Government of law and of justice. To this pass things have not come. 1. To say they have, is, to utter the language of falsehoodyor sheer folly; and out of hollow professions to make a cloak to hide the odiousness of thelate rebellion. Most mad and wicked attempt! And let us. My brethren, this day, with hearts full of sanctified gratitude, adore Almighty God for the, late deliverance. He hath saved us from ruin. He hath broken the armgof the wicked.'
