Mr. Day was chairman till he ceased to be ector; and ever since the Rector of Barnsley has acted as vice-president and a regular acting chairman of its meetings, until ten years ago when the arrangement ceased, not because the miners did not wish it to continue, but because a new Rector found himself unable to serve.
