Description

In this book, Jason shares life lessons from a variety of arenas, from the field of elite CrossFit competition to the cutthroat world of gym ownership to the cancer ward at Stanford University, where his daughter is engaged in a tough battle of her own.

Author Biography

Since first taking up CrossFit at Santa Clara University, Jason Khalipa has spent nearly a decade carving out and defending his territory at the top of the sport. In 2008, he earned the title of "Fittest Man on Earth" at the CrossFit Games. And unlike many of his competitors at that event, Jason remained a major force at the Games year after year, with six Top 10 finishes in all--including 2nd overall in 2013 and 3rd in 2014. A switch to the Team Competition in 2015 produced a first place finish at the California Regionals with Team NorCal CrossFit. When not competing as an athlete, Khalipa has made a huge impact through his work as a CrossFit coach, ambassador, and motivational speaker. He runs a hugely successful Crossfit franchise with multiple successful gyms, giving him unique perspective on success and maintaining a work/life balance in the competitive fitness industry. T.J. Murphy, over the course of a 20-year career, has established himself as one of the endurance world's most prolific writers. Among his many roles as a magazine editor, he has served as editor-in-chief of both Triathlete and Inside Triathlon magazines and as editorial director of Competitor magazine. His endurance journalism has appeared in Outside and Runner's World. In 2012 he gave things a twist when he chronicled his personal odyssey into strength, conditioning, and mobility in the seminal work Inside the Box: How CrossFit(R) Shredded the Rules, Stripped Down the Gym, and Rebuilt My Body. He lives in Boston with the love of his life and inspiration, Gretchen Weber, and their baby boy, Milo Murphy.
