In this way the school is not annoyed by the dust and noise incident to exercise, and the building is available for the use of the public as a municipal gymnasium and bath after school hours. The school ground is the best place for these institutions because duplication is thus avoided, and the utility is thus centrally located. It will be seen that by this means the city would get twice as much use of its plant as it is able to do at present. The municipal gymnasium and bath are used almost ex elusively in the late afternoon and evening, while the school needs the gymnasium and bath during the forenoon and the early part of the afternoon.
