I've played the SNES and Playstation versions of this game, they were great. However, when I got to this version, ENGLISH VOICES, normally they dont bother me, but if you've played Star Ocean 2…they have the same voice acting…CRAP, emotionless dolls screaming pansy battle crys…it kinda ruins it.
BUT, if you dont care for those small things lol, Tales of Phantasia is one of the best games i've played!
I think that this game was great and enjoyed the battling style. It is cool as how you can go make pacts with speacial monsters like Maxwell and the Moon spirit Luna and then summon them in battle.
I loved Tales of Symphonia, so bought this hoping for more of the same. There are many similarities, but you can tell pretty early on that a lot of the problems in this game had to be fixed to make the Tales series worthwhile. The 2D combat systam is really basic and comes down to button bashing mostly. You would have to be really old school to enjoy this game. If you want to try the Tales series don't start here. Get Symphonia or even better wait for Tempest on the DS.
This is a classic RPG game and i must say GBA have brought out the best. Its along the same lines as the golden sun games.
But the batteling is quite crude and really boring that you'll find yourself running away. The storyline is quite difficult to follow aswell, as they don't have pictures or names of people who are speaking and you get very confused. I bought this game thinking that it will be fun but after the first ten minuets gave up and haven't played since.
But i suppose its up to the individuals, as i don't really like Final Fantasy games and there like a real hit LOL
So if you are looking at buying this game it might be more convinient if you research it a bit more, and see if its really for you.
