Description

3rd Ramion collection. Fantasy adventures set in the magical land of Ramion and Kent village of Shoreham. Contains four stand-alone, fantastical stories. In The Seven Stones of Iliana when the boys are magicked to Iliana (where the people have been enslaved by the Princess of the Night) Benjamin becomes a cruel and haughty prince, but Snuggle (Dream Lord super hero and family cat) comes to the rescue, fights a great sea monster, with the help of the Logs frees the true Prince, and restoring the seven stones to their pinnacles defeats the powers of evil. In The Black Marchesa the Black Marchesa (early practitioner of Women's Lib, had six husbands, ate the lot) breaks free from the preserving tank beneath the ruined tower. When the boys learn from Snuggle that she is going to fill the larder by wrecking the train on which their father travels home from work, they cry, "We must save our Dad!" In Gary the Frog Prince when Gary (a motor mechanic) awakes and finds he has become a frog he croaks, "This is odd!" Then he sees the Frog Princess ("She's beautiful! She's lovely!") but after travelling with Snuggle and the boys to the Kingdom of the Frogs he quickly discovers that this is another trick of the witch Griselda to catch the boys for supper: she has no more use for him. In The Embodiment of Evil Griselda advertises in The Lady for a nanny to hunt for boys and girls (Boris the skull has to pretend to be the baby). All nannies are unsuited for the task save Narg (who tries to eat Griselda). After eating Narg the Nanny Griselda goes to bed feeling happy, but when she discovers she has eaten the Embodiment of Evil she is horrified: has she done good by eating Narg?
