"As good as gaming gets."
5 stars"

Absolutely amazing. One of the best experiences I've had with a video game. Nintendo has truly come up with a remarkable game that surpasses Super Mario 64 and Sunshine in nearly everyway. With unique level designs and an amazing atomosphere to boot, Galaxy stands as a remarkable gaming achievement on par with Ocarina of Time. Graphically, it stands as the best on the Wii and goes to show that artistic style can sometimes best graphical power. Definately worth buying. A must have for every wii owner, or anyone for that matter.

The reviewer below is horribly mistaken. This is the greatest platformer to come out since Mario 64. This game is fantastic. Get a Wii just to play this game. There is no game out right now that comes close as far as platformers or any games go.

"Breath taking adventure"
5 stars"

Super Mario galaxy is one of the most original games to date with its amazing gravity effects and it wonderful world. Galaxy plays and feels very much like super Mario 64 and super Mario sunshine, but with a few tweaks including wiimote controls and the ability to shoot through space. Super mario galaxy has a lot of things to do, there are 120 stars to collect which will take you about 10–15 hours to collect and then when you finish collecting all the stars you unlock the ability to replay the game with a new secret character. Galaxy is a must own for any wii owner

"Something different"
4 stars"

This game was a really good way to get used to the controls of the Wiimote. Especially when you let a friend be the pointer and you find yourself being “jumped” off the level..............

I loved how you could run around the planets though; that was a brilliant touch. It was so much fun jumping off the “cliff” of the planet and bouncing onto the other side. It made fighting enemies exciting as well!

A bit of a letdown though, was eventually the game just became the same thing. Especially when you got to play as Luigi; same game, slightly different controls.

I still finished it, but I think the gameplay could have been a little better as you progressed. Nobody wants to beat a game just to finish it, y'know?

Definitely buy this game though; it was worth every penny.

"A Must Have"
5 stars"

This is my first time playing a Mario game, and it one of the best I have ever played. It is the most fun game. The only hiccup is the swimming portions. If Nintendo gets that right, then it would be perfect. The level design is amazing, and so much variety, that players do not do the same thing over and over again. If you have a Wii, buy it – which I'm sure all did. If you are buying a Wii, get this game.

Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii is hands down the best game on the system if not the best game released this year. It is Platforming at its finest. The visuals are on par with a PS3 or 360 game with componenet cables…no kidding. The controls are simple yet Mario has a lot of moves at his disposal especially with the upgrades you can acquire to collect more stars. Marios attack…well his main one is done by a shake of the wiimote…however jump is assigned to A which is good and responsive as many Wii games that use a flick to jump arent exact enough. There is a massive total of 120 stars to collect…im 9 hours in and have only 30!!!!! Some of the levels themselves are difficult especially when your given a 4 minute time limit to complete them. The galaxies have much variety and I can tell you Nintendo put alot of thought and effort into this title. It really shines through as well. Definitely GOTY imho…its that good…better than Mario Sunshine? Definitely…better than Super Mario 64…of course…this game surpasses all previous Mario games.....go buy it now!!!

"Best console game ever"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

I am sure that the person that wrote the negative review below doesn't own a Wii because EVERY Wii owner should buy this game!! I have previously played many different consoles including ps1, ps2, xbox, xbox360 etc and every game I bought, I got bored of it within a few days. However this game is keeping me going since the release date till now and I am enjoying it so much!! If you don't have a Wii, this game is a very good reason to go and buy one right now.

"Absolute Brilliance"
5 stars"

It IS the game of the year. It is a fact. Nintendo haters go and write bad reviews to give you shoppers confusing information. Dont listen to (that ahem other review) as they obviously have not played this game. In my opinion the Wii has released ten times the amount of good games than Microsoft and Sony. Another fact is that Nintendo are kicking MS & Sony as Sales of Wii and games worldwide is just so much higher.

The game, on the other hand is Game of the Year. It DOES live up to the hype if not BEAT IT, unlike the disappointing Halo 3.

"Amazing"
5 stars"

I've just found all 120 stars, finishing the game (well, there's one more surprise after doing that, it's quite cool).

I think I can say that in my 20+ years of playing thousands games on dozens of different systems, Super Mario Galaxy is a contender for ‘best game I've ever played’. Improving on the 3D Mario games that have come before it, taking cues from other games such as Donkey Konga Jungle Beat, presenting itself with gorgeous graphics and an amazing fully orchestrated soundtrack, using the Wiimote's unique capabilities in intuitive and non-intrusive ways, and polished to a blinding shine, Mario Galaxy is, simply put, an amazing game. My expectations for this game were high, but it managed to exceed them. It's clear that the people who made this game cared deeply about it, were passionate about making the best game they could. It's full of that old Nintendo magic. It reminds me why I love games.

Stand-out features? The soundtrack … classic and new Mario themes are brought together by an orchestra that makes the experience epic and moving by turns. The boss battles, similar in feel to Jungle Beat's, requiring quick thinking and precise timing. The Luigi stars. The brilliantly epic confrontations with Bowser, again enormously improved by the amazing music. There are more, but it's better to discover them for yourself.

Nitpicks? Yes, I have some. There are two levels, both Purple Comet levels, that are frustrating and unfair. The camera, while excellent for 99% of the game, can be frustrating for that remaining 1%. But really, that's all I can think of. 99.9% of this game is joyful, pure, fantastically fun gaming bliss.

"Cute RPG"
4 stars"

The game has a good story line lots of levels that graduly get harder and harder as you progress. Cute friends in it and the oportunity to stratigize. Vibrant colours and good range of motions in use with the controller. It can also be a 2 player game where if you need help there is help and lots of team work involved.

"Good!"
3 stars"

The must own Wii game!! If you're struggling to choose out of the various Wii games available, choose this one. It has an easy, laidback style of play, certainly a game to pick up and play after work, or to keep the kids busy. It's essentially an updated, modern remake of the same Mario gameplay. That doesn't make it bad, it's just the best game out there for Wii, and fun. Not game of the year material, but still a good game that'll keep you entertained and not frustrated!

"Just Mario"
2 stars"

The wii is an innovative console and it can be fun, ill give it that, but it gets very repetitive and gimmicky very fast. Playing the old mario games, again, in space with motion controls is not very original. The wii may have had large sales, but microsoft owns the majority of the gaming market, and nintendo is still the company at the back making family games, not games of the year. And im pretty sure microsoft have released more top rated games than ninendo in the past few years.

"Absolute Junk"
1 stars"

This is a short review. This is the same mario game people have played for 20+ years! It is utter junk to be repeating the same gameplay over and over across nintendo's cheap and silly knock-offs of mario bros. There is nothing original in this game what-so-ever and i don't recommend this to anyone.Playing mario from 20+ years ago in space with a wii-mote does not equal GOTY.This game is uninspired, unoriginal, and just plain dull! Yet Nintendo will continue making this along with other junk for many years to come.Don't buy this junk,I'd say rent first, but tbh, don't bother/

"Overrated"

This Is Just Another Above Average Platformer.

The Xbox And Ps3 Have Much Better Games Such As Uncharted, Ratchet, And Halo

This Game Is Short. Very Few Extras And Has Frustrating Controls And Camera Angles.

If Your Going TO Pick Up A Wii Just For This Game, Dont Bother. Get A 360 Or Ps3

Out of all my QII games this one I have played the most, along side Super Smash Bros and Super Mario Cart… Anything with Mario basically guarantees success

"Very enjoyable."
5 stars"

Where to start.....Graphics = Amazing, Story = Very well done, Wii features = truly spectacular. Everything about this game is great, take yourself on a journey as your quest to unravel the mysteries of space unfolds in marios best adventure yet. Collect stars, power the station, defeat bowser and save the one you seek.

"Pure Magic"
5 stars"

If you ever wanted an example of an amazing game that could only be done on Wii, this is it. It has all the great platforming that Mario 64 had, with light years more scope & a visual & audio polish beyond reproach. In playing this game I found myself often coming across a unique level, say, using the pointer to control the movement of a bubble on screen, or using the tilt of the remote to control surfing on a sting ray, and thinking “any other developer would have made this mechanic in to a whole game, rather than putting so many different ideas into one package”. The game is also for new players & veterans alike. Actually getting to the end of the story (which is told through optional picture book sequences) isn't that hard, but getting all 242 stars? Now that is another matter altogether, requiring precision platforming skills with hardly any room for error.

Mario: a name that has been at the very core of the video game industry since the late 80's. A name that is synonymous with many of the major games over the last two decades, the star of Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario 64 has finally worked his way onto the current generation of video game consoles with a new take on some of the most successful classics: Super Mario Galaxy.

Super Mario Galaxy finally brings all the nostalgia, entertainment and charm of previous outings to Nintendo's Wii console. The game features a somewhat unoriginal storyline – Bowser, the games primary antagonist has again kidnapped Princess Peach, the damsel in distress, and once more it is up to Mario to rescue her. The events from the opening cinematic – more epic than any other Mario game – take Mario on an adventure away from his usual backdrop of ‘the Mushroom Kingdom’, and place him in outer space. Upon his arrival, he meets Rosalina, the keeper of a place known as the Comet Observatory. She tasks Mario with rescuing Grand Power Stars from various galaxies, to assist the Observatory in travelling to the centre of the universe – where he can rescue Peach once and for all. That is about as deep as the storyline gets, and admittedly it seems a rather shallow tale reminiscent of virtually, well, every Mario game to date, however it is the gameplay and sheer entertainment value where players will find enjoyment in Galaxy.

The gameplay, as mentioned above, is where Galaxy really shines. The Wii Remote – with Nunchuck attached – is used in subtle and highly intuitive ways that will give the casual gamer a great experience, while still providing the hardcore crowd with depth and plenty of opportunity to finesse the controls. The Nunchucks analog stick guides Mario around the many planets Galaxy holds, jump is mapped to the A button, and Mario's spin attack is only a quick shake of the Wii Remote away. Of course, there is more depth to the control system, but jump and spin will be your bread and butter through the game. And with these tight controls, players will find plenty of enjoyment traversing from planet to planet, stomping on enemies, and collecting coins. However, one thing I found slightly hindered the experience is the difficulty, or lack of. In another Nintendo attempt to lure the casual gaming crowd, the difficulty has been ramped way down for the most part, and extra lives are far too easy to obtain – but in saying that, some areas I found took several attempts, and I was somewhat glad to be packing 15-odd lives.

The graphics of Galaxy are hands down the best I have encountered – on the Wii. Although still quite a way away from the graphical powerhouses of the PS3 and 360, Nintendo has clearly focused on creating a visual experience with Galaxy. A component cable will really help the game shine – with Galaxy supporting 480p, 16:9 widescreen and progressive scan modes. Similarly, a lot of effort has gone into the soundtrack of Galaxy, featuring an orchestrated ensemble, and in some instances, Mario fans will come across some more nostalgic tunes.

I have found a lot to like with Super Mario Galaxy. The controls are tight and responsive, the graphics are amazing (for a Wii game), while the soundtrack is very pleasing. Players will find hours of entertainment working between planets, collecting Star Bits and Power Stars, unlocking galaxies and stomping on enemies. Despite the lack in storyline, players will find an immersive and rich platforming experience in Super Mario Galaxy.

"Game of the year, say no more."
5 stars"

Best game I have played in a VERY long time. Most people however will never finish it because you have to be pro to get 120 stars. The purple comet levels are hard and are only unlocked after getting 60 stars. (which is easy)

One tip: Never miss a comet early in the game, it will make end game so much better.

Just buy it, It is THE game of 2007.

"Boring"
2 stars"

Its not that great because its really easy to complete and it is short for a mario game.
