Description

Introducing Standardized Work means to involve all personnel in developing and improving local work instructions and standards. Following agreed-on procedures will enhance quality, safety, and efficiency. The key to succeeding is to place ownership of standards at the right level, without the micromanaging that is often associated with standardization. We need to build the methodology on local agreements about how to perform the work; a well thought out on-the-job training and a daily dialogue between the Manager and Staff about how the work should develop. The book also describes how managers' work hours can be planned to ensure that we do the most important things first and in a correct manner - standardized work for leaders. The book answers questions like: How do we write useful work instructions? How do we train our staff in the best way? How do we get an efficient improvement on ongoing work? What do we do when there are deviations? How do we perform follow-ups by way of coaching? Oskar Olofsson is a Swedish consultant and the founder of WCM Consulting AB. Since 1996 he has worked with Lean and TPM implementation in large corporations. Please read Oskar's previous book Succeeding with 5s or sign up for Oskar's newsletter at the Website wcm.nu.
