Operations have been performed and vaunted abroad, even by men of eminence, which have served to throw a false halo around the proceedings. But it cannot be denied that the bril liancy of these Operations has been dimmed by the results, and that the natural effect must be a return to those unostentatious, but really more efficient modes of treatment which have stood the test of long experience.
