John Woo HAS pushed it to the limit with the sequel to his popular movie Hard Boiled.
StrangleHold throws you into the slums of Hong Kong, or center city Chicago as Chow Yun-Fat's popular character, Inspector Tequila.
With the V.O of Chow Yun-Fat himself, it gives the game and ever stronger feel to Hard Boiled.
Playing as a chinese inspector, you weild two pistols, and whatever other weapons you can find lying around from shotguns, to assault rifles, to ballers to sub machine guns.
The feature “Tequila Time” puts Tequila into a slow motion gun down sliding across tables, swinging from chandelers and jumping from high balconies. This shows the player two things, the battle in a slow, violent motion with bullets blazing from all directions, and a chance to give Tequila that small advantage of being faster than the rest.
One let down of the game is the lack of stages. With a tiny seven… yes seven levels to fight across, the game can be easily finished quickly after purchase. But this is for the people that play 24/7.
If you pace yourself along the game slowly, admiring the amazing scenery you just destroyed in gun battle, and take more time to plan a gun-down than run in the middle with a machine gun in slow motion. You can make the game last longer, and have more fun.
StrangleHold is easily an upgrade for the Next Gen consoles, and deserves a standing obation from gamers.
