Description

This book invites the casual walker to put on a light pack, lace up a pair of hiking boots, and set off on a journey through the countryside. Brimming with useful advice and helpful hints, and packed with engaging stories and anecdotes, it uncovers the delights and pleasures of traveling on one's own two feet. With a comfort-loving author as your guide, the reader will discover the 'how to,' the 'what it's like,' and the 'why you'll love it' aspects of long-distance walking in Great Britain and beyond. With wit and wisdom, this candid, lighthearted guide speaks to everyone who has ever been tempted to walk a little further, for a little longer, on an unfamiliar path.

Author Biography:

A decade ago, Eleanor Berger was a hesitant adventurer who decided to try something new. Reluctant and wary, she gave rambling a try. She has been following footpaths ever since. Now, with more than 1,000 miles under her soles, walking both at home and abroad (mostly in Great Britain), this tenderfoot shares her passion and unique perspective with readers. The author is an essayist whose personal commentaries have been published in anthologies and magazines, and broadcast on regional public radio stations.
