This volume examines the development and nature of the theatre in Wales since the late 1970s. The essays and personal statements cover such topics as: the belated recognition of drama in Wales; the continuing presence of a lively amateur stage; Wales's particular contribution to theatre in education; the theatre's position in a bilingual culture; the character of Welsh experimental theatre; the effects of government funding policies; and the establishment of actor's training in Wales.

Author Biography:

Anne Marie-Taylor was a Drama Lecturer at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth for 12 years before becoming a Lecturer in Continuing Education at the University of Wales Swansea. She also has links with the universities of Bristol, London and Lancaster.
