A mystery that combines action, suspense, and humour. When a local crime boss is spotted hovering around the star outfielder, Fennis Sheldon, for the California Condors, the team's manager hires private investigator Jill Babcock to look into the matter. Jill uncovers a big-time gambling scheme, in which Fennis, and some of his teammates are being blackmailed to fix games. Jill's investigation takes a deadly turn when a key source is murdered, leaving a four-year-old boy as the only witness to the crime. As Jill races to find the killer, she's unaware that the killer is setting a trap for her.
