Social Science Matters is a resource in which learners and teachers participate in group discussions and other activities where the emphasis is on developing independent thinking and a responsible attitude. The activities are designed to encourage learners to enrich their learning experience by using their own knowledge and ideas. Features of the Learner's Book It comprises four modules with built-in assessment tasks: 'People together'; 'Living together'; 'People at work' and 'Organising together'. Human and Social Sciences and Economics and Management Science are integrated. The book uses a fun approach to address serious issues. Photographs and illustrations give the book visual impact. Features of the Teacher's Guide An introduction to Outcomes-based Education is provided, including sections on organizing the classroom and assessment. Programme Organisers, Phase Organisers, Specific Outcomes and Assessment Criteria are given for each activity. Suggested unit guidelines and assessment guides are provided.
