Engines fitted with atomisers include both the Diesel and the semi-diesel type, and here the problem of the use of tar oils will, in view of recent developments, be found of the greatest interest. The third part of the book deals with the examination of liquid fuels and with calorimetry, a knowledge of which is of the utmost importance in order to determine the suitability of any particular kind of oil for a given type of engine, or of determining the properties and the calorific value of a proposed substitute.
