"A wonderfully crafted modern intake of Sherlock Holmes.."
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

This modern version of Sherlock has been well crafted and edited with a perfect cast. Benedict Cumberbatch plays Sherlock and does a stunning job with it as does Martin Freeman with John Watson. It's more like three movies than episodes as it has been edited and put together like a masterpiece.

Each episode is based on one of Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock stories. A Study in Pink is based on A Study in Scarlet, The Blind Bank is based on two stories called The Valley of Fear and The Dancing Men, while The Great Game is reflected upon a number of stories but mainly The Adventure of the Bruce-Partington Plans.

It's quite interesting to see how they changed the original story to fit into modern times, for example; John Watson keeps a blog instead of a journal.

By far Sherlock is one of the best television shows I have ever seen and is a perfect series and a perfect buy.

Delightful modern take on an old classic. The only down-side to this series is that the next installment isn't due out until 2014 :(

"Not as bad as some, not as good as others"

Very flashy on the surface, the show is aesthetically pleasing. The story-lines are, for the most part, very entertaining.

Unfortunately, once you start to actually think about what you're watching, the show's flaws become apparent and you start to wonder how long the writers spent patting themselves on the back for being so clever.

Benedict is a wonderful actor supported by (mostly) other wonderful actors and Moriarty… Oh, Moriarty. But I'll leave that ode for season 2.

Bought this series on DVD despite having already watched the episodes a few times before, mainly so I could introduce other people to the show. Everyone who watches it comes back with favourable reviews.

"A must see series!"

Excellent series, really enjoyable. Plenty of humour; the modern updates provide a great contrast to the older version (such as the Jeremy Brett series). All the main characters are perfectly cast. Would definitely recommend to anyone!

This is brilliant! Each episode is like a film which allows for plot and character building and a fantastic story. The soundtrack and editing is great too. I strongly recommend watching Sherlock. Favourite tv series hands down.

BBC's Sherlock is a really awesome tv series. Cumberpatch and Freeman give an interesting and new portrayal of the characters and with its modern twist on the Conan Doyle's series it creates a fascinating and addictive story.
