Description

This is the inspirational story of Shannon, who heard about the organization Guide Dogs for the Blind when she was 8 years old. She then brought her whole family into the exciting adventure as she raised guide dog puppies for the next nine years. This story shows that even a young child can make a difference in improving lives and making the world a better place.

Author Biography:

Diane is a writer, poet and quilter who lives in Aptos, California with her husband Doug. She has volunteered in several non profit organizations, and has written this book with Shannon to hopefully motivate other young people to get involved in volunteering to make a difference for those in need. Diane has two daughters who live in Mexico and Alaska, and has five grandchildren. Shannon started raising puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind in third grade and continued through high school. Her family continues to raise guide dog puppies, and Shannon hopes to return to raising after college. Being the daughter of a veterinarian, Shannon was thrilled to find a project where she could combine her love for animals and passion for community service. She is thankful for all the opportunities this project has brought her and hopes to encourage other youth to give back to their community. You are never too young to make a difference!
