"Great - but short"
4 stars"

Fantastic game… although sadly, not as long as you would hope. I clocked it first time around in a little over 8 hours.

Music – amazing Graphics – not super amazing, but suits the atmosphere and story perfectly Story – what can you say? I don't think you'll find it the focus of gameplay

Great for people who like to think about what they are fighting, rather than mashing the ‘x’ button. Would be fun to replay (but how long would it take?) More of a rental for me..... but you could certainly spend more time exploring to fan out the time a bit, I guess?

"Amazing!"
5 stars"

This is one of the best games I have ever played! Even though it is such a short game (took me 7 hrs 30 mins to finish first time, then second time took 3 hrs), the story is awesome, and the gameplay experience is the one of the best ever. All of the colossus are enjoyable to beat. Only problem is that the camera can sometimes get a bit annoying! Other than that, this is a must have PS2 game.

"Yes - stunned too!"

Yes the Colossuses – or in english, ‘the colossi’ (from the plural latin masculine form of the noun colossus) – are indeed awe-inspiring! Such a magnificent game and a good brain tester too........If your IQ isn't up to it you're gone! If your skills are not up to it you are gone! Great mix – great game. Still, I say hire it. Takes about twelve hours to clock. :)

"Simply stunning!"
5 stars"

Shadow of the Colossus is not just a ‘fight the big moving thing’ type of game, it goes much deeper than that.

The Wanderer brings a girl to a remote sanctuary with a purpose – to restore her. We know not who she is and we know not why he wants her whole again. Indeed, all we know about him is that he is called the Wanderer. All we do know is that the Wanderer will go to any lengths to have the girl made whole again, even to the extent of giving his own life. That he must find and destroy several Colossi to achieve his goal is revealed to him and the bargain is struck. And thus begins one of the most fascinating games you will play this year.

You face the Colossi, each more fearsome than the last, with only your horse – Agro – as your companion and a sword and bow and arrow as your weapons. You must first locate your Colossus, then scale it, find its weak spot and kill it. If it sounds easy, believe me, it's not. Every Colossus is large, angry, cunning, always moving and is trying desperately to fling you off, should you even get passed his huge, stamping feet. Each time you manage to overcome and kill a Colossus something is lost from within and the Wanderer becomes dirty, ragged and more resigned. To what, we do not know.

The action of Shadow of the Coloussus is frenzied and brutal, yet the ending is one of the most moving and beautiful I have ever seen.

"I C I need to elaborate now...."
5 stars"

Dweebs are giving the time on their save page upon completion and not counting restarts, time it takes to find some of them (before you die and start again from last save and that time isnt counted).

7 hours is NOT how long it took you to defeat the 16 colossi (less than 30 mins each one including finding, answering clues, deciphering weakness etc etc)… Here is an acronym to describe 7 hours to clock the game – BS.

If one was to go online, as I know intimately so many of these confused and stuck gamers would have, and get the secrets to beating a colossus when periodically stuck, then I am quite sure it would take 7 hours also.

So the three options for the game taking 7 hours to clock are:

  1. Lying.
  2. Taking the time off the save page when you know you had fifty other goes.
  3. Getting the clues and ways to defeat the colossi online.

There were two colossi in particluar that I had to observe and attempt to beat for 2 hours each. Thats 4 hours gone and 14 colossi to go...... you guys must be quickest, or best gamers on the planet.

No one knows who you are or gives a rats patooti… so give your actual times and describe the game accurately… or F*** off. Simple really Mr Michael Stapp of Creed.

Enjoy one of the more memorable and profound games you will ever play – as long, as like the people below, you could well end up being someone who doesnt get the ending. Or flicked through it so you could clock the game in a record 10 mins and 30 secs… lol!

Yes, actually the game took me 3 minutes to complete – and I never got on the horse…

lol!! ha!! Assume the position, and take it.

:)

"yeah no that's cool mccreed...."
5 stars"

Point I was trying to make was that, by lying your ass off, you mislead people from how long the game actually takes to complete. 7 hours is a load of bollocks and you know it. The sad thing is that you mislead in an attempt to look cool, but no one knows who the fudge you are anyway dude…!! You responded b/c you knew I got cha… take it like a man biaaarch.

one of the great games of all time – and it will take you a HELL of a lot longer than 7 hours. Over twice as long…

:)

Enjoy…

"Stick To The Game, Not The Gamer"
5 stars"

Nikko, By putting my times on the site I was purely showing how short I found the game, but it is definatly quality over quantity. I then went on to state how long it took me to finish it the second time, implying that it was such an enjoyable experience it is a game that has some replay value. (Maybe you just don't see that?)

In game reviews, people often state how long it takes to finish the game, as it may be a issue for other gamers. I would advise that you stick to reviewing the game, and not the reviewer.

Awesome game as I say........but instead of restarting all the time – just play the game.

seven hours to clock the first time? Get off the grass dude. Just write your review – don't talk hogwash.

"Intrigued and stunned"

What this game has to offer is what screenshots and trailers can't portray; you have to play it!

Honestly, when I first saw this game and its uprise in the top 10, I wanted to see what the game is about. But when I saw the screenshots and trailers, they didn't mean anything to me. But I got a copy anyways and played it… I was awe of the colossuses in the game and the vast environment. Everything was extremely detailed, which made the gameplay more realistic.

So my point really; just get it and play it. Don't trust the screenshots/trailers. Go for the majority ;)
