Scratch and Sniff is a cops and robbers story with a difference. Scratch and Sniff are a collie and a dachshund belonging to W.P.C Rosy Penrose. She is a little bit ditsy and is always given the rotten jobs to do by Sergeant Snide. When there's been a big robbery at Doogood's department store, Rosy is left behind to count traffic cones. As usual, she never gets to see any of the real police action. Until, that is, Scratch and Sniff decide to help out...

A former teacher, Margaret Ryan has written the Fat Alfie and Airy Fairy series for Scholastic, the Operation Boyfriend and Little Blue series for Hodder and two Littlest Dragon titles for HarperCollins. In 2000 she won the Scottish Arts Council Award for The Queen's Birthday Hat.
