Dr Gum and Dr Lear seem to strike up a lucrative business partnership. During Dr Gum's absence at a local dental seminar, Dr Lear coaxes Serena, an assistant, to a clandestine meeting. He slips her a new drug he is prescribed to control his alcoholism. An unexpected side effect unleashes a bizarre reaction and subsequent gutting of Dr Gum's clinic unbeknownst to both intoxicated culprits. In the morning neither can remember what transpired. Dr Gum launches a police investigation to no avail. In a last resort effort he is invited to revive his practice by attending a gala dinner sponsored by Pharm-O-Next, a drug company prescribing a new miracle wonder drug proven to wean alcoholics off the bottle. All physicians and dentists in attendance have either bought into the miraculous pharmaceutical or are about to go on a free cruise, including Dr Lear who is actually in clinical trials himself. Dr Gum is not convinced and continues to investigate the relatively unknown company. He discovers that not only does Pharm-O-Next not exist, but that it is a covert cover up of the CIA. They plan to infiltrate all the physician's patient files to weed out suspected terrorists in the post 9/11 era. How far will they probe in their invasion of privacy and violation of civil rights to protect the public? Can Dr Gum discover who pillaged his practice? He becomes a marked man, an enemy of the state, in the sinister international conspiracy. Can he uncover the truth in time and regain his independence?
