This game is getting a bit older now, but the graphics are still awesome. Great colours and flow. I love RPG's and enjoy action games, and this hits the spot with just the right mix. The battles/fights are challenging but not impossible – although I did play them on the PC keyboard, I think it would be easier to play on a gamepad.
The game is prone to numerous crashes, and a web search will reveal the same grizzle world-wide – which the makers (CodeMasters) seem to have ignored and failed to produce a patch to address.
There have been some suggested work-arounds available, with this one seemingly the better one: http://community.codemasters.com/…desktop.html
However, I just grinned and re-loaded every time the game crashed, and managed to stay sane throughout.
Another problem encountered was problems trying to select the 4th option in dialogs – being the bottom right option. Web searches revealed this solution: “Press down or up key together with left or right – sometimes need both hands to do this while also press the ENTER key to select the option.” It is purely for the buggy-ness of the game that I didn't give it 5 Stars.
The story is linear, but there are a number of choices that can be made, leaving some open-ness to your own style. If you are after super-high quality graphics and eye-candy, this may not be your cup of tea – better to stay with the latest graphics intensive games. However, if you are after a great, fun game, that won't break the bank and remains enjoyable – this game ticks all the right boxes. There are 3 levels that can be played: Human – Hero or Legend; of course, these are the difficulty ratings.
One last tip: Check the Options Menu as to what buttons do what – there aren't many options to try and re-configure, but it seems everyone has problems finding out how to throw the spear – When all else fails: read the instructions : )
Would I play it again – You bet.
