Description

Revealing Unchartered Biology with Single Intact Cells: Currently Available Platforms enables researchers in bioscience to visualize cellular phenomena at an unprecedented scale and rate. The book's editors provide an overview of each of the most current techniques, both individually and when used in conjunction. Sections cover CyTof, Multicolor fluorescence cytometry, CODEX multiplexed imaging, MIBI, Imaging Mass Cytometry, Multi resolution cell orientation, Confocal microscopy, QPI and Fluorescence microscopy, CyTOF and SCRNA Seq, CyTOP and scATAC Seq, and CyTOF and ATAC See, and the application of the techniques to biological questions, including chapters on cellular diversity and generating hypothesis through data analysis. The final part is dedicated to further the reader’s understanding of complex biological systems by identifying new clinical tools and drug development. This book is the ideal reference for researchers who want to understand the variety of multiplex visualization techniques available for bioscientists and how to make better decisions on how to apply them to the biological question of interest.

Author Biography:

Dr. Wendy Fantl is an assistant professor in the Department of Urology and by-courtesy appointment in Obstetrics and Gynecology Stanford University (CA, USA). Wendy received her BA in Biochemistry from the University of York (UK) and PhD in Protein Biochemistry from Rockefeller University (NY, USA) before becoming a post-doc and adjunct assistant professor at the University of California, San Francisco (CA, USA). Wendy has 16 years of experience working in Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical industries. Wendy’s passion is in the mechanistic understanding of intracellular signaling pathways, DNA damage and the host immune system and their role in malignancies with an “eye on the prize” of a clinically translational endpoint. Her current interests are to apply multi-parametric single-cell technology platforms to identify disease-causing cell subpopulations in ovarian cancer and other malignancies. Dr. Veronica Gonzalez Muñoz is a senior research scientist in the Fantl and Nolan Labs at Stanford University (CA, USA). Veronica received her MSc in Molecular Biology from Stockholm University (Sweden), PhD in Experimental Medicine from the Karolinska Institutet (Sweden) before becoming a postdoctoral fellow in virology/immunology at the National Institutes of Health (MD, USA). Veronica specializes in viral and tumor immunology and systems biology single-cell analysis.
