Reproductive Justice is a first-of-its-kind primer that provides a comprehensive yet succinct description of the field. Written by two legendary scholar-activists, Reproductive Justice introduces students to an intersectional analysis of race, class, and gender politics. Loretta J. Ross and Rickie Solinger put the lives and lived experience of women of color at the center of the book and use a human rights analysis to show how the discussion around reproductive justice differs significantly from the pro-choice/anti-abortion debates that have long dominated the headlines and mainstream political conflict. Arguing that reproductive justice is a political movement of reproductive rights and social justice, the authors illuminate, for example, the complex web of structural obstacles a low-income, physically disabled woman living in West Texas faces as she contemplates her sexual and reproductive intentions. Author Biography:

Rickie Solinger is a historian and curator and the author or editor of many books about reproductive politics, including Wake Up Little Susie: Single Pregnancy and Race before Roe v. Wade. Loretta J. Ross is a cofounder of the SisterSong Women of Color Reproductive Justice Collective and cocreator, in 1994, of the theory of reproductive justice. She has addressed women's issues, hate groups, and human rights on CNN and in the New York Times, Time magazine, Los Angeles Times, and USA Today. Julienne Irons loves all things true crime but has a knack for creating fun voices, which makes her a great choice for children's books and adult novels. It's always fun for her to figure out where characters fit into the stories she gets to tell. She loves getting lost on adventures in inspiring riveting literary fiction, especially when the protagonist is either a woman or the story seeks to bring a voice to the voiceless. She's worked with the amazing Viola Davis on How to Get Away with Murder, Rob Lowe on Lone Star 911, and Nathan Fillion on The Rookie, and a number of other TV shows. With training from Tisch School of the Arts and various prestigious acting studios, she can bring any story to life with love and passion and truly enjoys the work she's so honored to create. Holly Adams is a classically trained, award-winning actor and narrator who loves every single thing about stories and the beings that inhabit them. With her attention to tone and character integrity, Holly enjoys narrating pretty much anything, and specializes in action-adventure/fantasy, mysteries/thrillers, and the subtle comfort of self-help nonfiction. Holly's first language was Southern, after which her family moved around a lot, finally settling in rural New York. Combined with a love of languages and her professional training, these experiences gave her a range of regional Southern dialects and an excellent capacity for accent and dialect in general. When not behind a mic, Holly continues to perform on stage, in films, and with the circus, especially Red Nose.
