Mr. Quincy was not the man to shrink from any duty which his Official position devolved upon him; and, having been specially invited by the Corporation to prepare a discourse to be delivered on the 8th of September, 1886, the second centennial anniversary of the foundation of the University, in commemora tion of that event, and of the founders and patrons of the Seminary, he not only performed the task then assigned him, but announced his purpose of preparing, as soon as it was practicable, the long-desired History of the institution.
